Disobedience Could be Fatal

A young son of a missionary couple in the Congo was playing in the yard. Suddenly, the voice of the boy's father rang out from the porch, "Philip, obey me instantly! Drop to your stomach!" Immediately the youngster did as his father commanded. "Now crawl toward me as fast as you can!" The boy obeyed. "Stand up and run to me!" Philip responded unquestioningly and ran to his father's arms.

As the youngster turned to look at the tree by which he had been playing, he saw a large deadly snake hanging from one of its branches! At the first command of his father, Philip could have hesitated and asked, "Why do you want me to do that?" Or he could have casually replied, "In a minute!" But his instant obedience without questioning saved his life! (Our Daily Bread June 9, 1991)

Sometimes, the most difficult thing to do is to be obedient, especially when we feel we are loosing something of great value. There have been times in my life, when the pain of letting go has been tremendous. Change is always uncomfortable, and the walk with God means constant change. Even if you do not understand the "whys", never loose your trust in your heavenly father. He knows what you do not know. He can see the snake lurking over your head that you do not notice!

Is the Holy Spirit asking you today to be obedient and change a situation?

1Sa 15:22 "But Samuel replied: "Does the LORD delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the voice of the LORD? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams".
