Results of Prayer

Several weeks ago I sent this email, "Please take a missions moment and pray? Knees Needed" where I shared about our teaching in Guyana and I want to update you about the events of the Ministry and Educational Seminar in Georgetown, Guyana that was put on by Caribbean School of Theology (CST).
I want to share with you some of the events of this time in Guyana.
UPDATE!
Just want to say thanks to you and all those who have been lifting Bartica up in prayer since the February 17 invasion by armed gangs. To date, three of the gang members have been shot and killed. About four in custody and the armed forces are on the trails of "Fineman"" Guyana's most wanted criminal. We have prayed for God to ambush them and we are seeing it come to pass. Thanks for praying. God Bless! Rita

The government reports: In the wake of the attack at Lusignan that left 11 dead and three injured and the death of a Guyana Defense Force soldier, the government has declared today a national day of mourning.
While in Guyana this trip, 11 were killed from 3 different East Indian families, one Hindu, one family Muslim and one family from our Assemblies of God Church in Lusignan. The adults were murdered with the children begging for their lives with no mercy.

Today I received this report from our pastor and my student Rita Bruet-Pastor of Bartica AG Church, She reports:

I write you at a time when my village is in need of much prayer. Last Sunday night just as I got in from church our Police station was attacked and three police men killed and others injured. The gun men then walked through the first Avenue area and killed all those they found on the street. A total of 12 persons were confirmed dead. This has been the second mass killing in Guyana in four weeks, inflicting a collective death toll of twenty-three.

Just behind where we live there was a 45 minutes sustained gun fire. We had to lie on our floors for over two hours. Gun fire commenced at 9:10pm and ended at 10:45pm. They proceeded throughout the village shooting indiscriminately at whatever seemed to be a moving object. During those hours the believers were praying. By the power of God he protected and preserved our lives. We learnt that the bandits paraded the street in which I live, but not a round was fired in our street.

That had to be God as I had prayed and sealed our home and area with the blood asking God to get rid of these crazy bandits from our village. Troops were sent in but they arrived after the bandits left by boat. To date no one has been arrested. Our village now looks like a ghost town. Stores and business places were closed all day yesterday. Prayers are been said for us. Children and households are traumatized.

We have been praying and have organized a public prayer rally for 3 pm tomorrow in the open air. Our once peaceful community has been traumatized, many are fearful, but we are praying the God's purpose and will be done as we keep looking to Him the Author and finisher of our faith.
Please pray for our village.

Blessings, and Thanks for Praying
Your prayers are vital for saints in need, Churches and pastors that feel the threat of terror and the reality of guns and death. Thanks for sharing with a burden for the lost and for your prayers for us in ministry.
Yours truly,
Jim and Jeanne Lowell
